Program Description: Resilience is a commonly used term, but the concept of resilience can be clouded by ambiguity and generalizations. As a result, it can be challenging to know how we as professionals can help the young people we work with become more resilient. How do we build emotional awareness, mindfulness, positive relationships, coping skills, and motivation through our facilitation? How do we support an appropriate level of self-exploration and personal growth? How does the virtual environment impact our ability to facilitate for resilience? This program will offer tangible definitions and frameworks to understand resilience, and participants will learn evidence-based experiential facilitation strategies that promote resilience in students in both in person and virtual programs.
Series Description: Between January-June 2021 BaMidbar will offer four 90-minute virtual programs for the UpStart community. Each program will be a combination of psychological theory and practical tools youth professionals can use to support their students. All programs will include a combination of content delivery and experiential activities, discussion, and reflection to help professionals integrate these concepts into their personal and professional life. Professionals can join for a single session and are encouraged to join for all four sessions, as the overall series will follow a curricular arc.
