Dear BaMidbar Community,
Teen and young adult mental health is more at risk than ever before. Depression, self-harm, eating disorders, and more are increasingly prevalent, while treatment resources remain insufficient.
COVID-19 notably exacerbated youth mental health trends. As we have resiliently moved forward from one collective trauma, Jewish youth are now processing new traumas, with October 7th and rising anti-semitism.
In 2023, the BaMidbar team worked tirelessly to ensure that Jewish youth, despite adversities, have the confidence, skills, and support to thrive. But we need your help!
We see recipes for resilience in Judaism, so we train educators to view Judaism with a mental health lens, conveying knowledge, skills, and confidence to support their youth.
We see opportunities for empowerment in nature and adventure therapy, so we take clients beyond the office, engaging their bodies and minds to overcome adversity.
We see youth as individuals with agency within communities, so we support them, and their caretakers, schools, and beyond.
Below, I’ve included our 2023 Impact Report, which highlights some of our recent successes in these areas. Will you help deepen our impact?
With Gratitude,
Jory Hanselman Mayschak
